London Unschooling Conference

Birds fly, fish swim, children learn.

I just found out about this and am really excited. As most of you probably know we are considering home education for Phoebe and if we do go ahead with it we will most likely be going down the autonomous route (also known as unschooling). So this would be a good chance to hear all about it from people who really know.

Here's the link.

Iced Chai Soy Latte

Today I am making a batch of this chai latte syrup. Its my favourite drink. Its best to drink when the sun is shining but even on cloudy days like today its still yummy. I make up only half the amount as i'm the only one who drinks it and mix it up with So Good soya milk. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Picture the scene...

Phoebe is playing with her dolls house dollies...

Mummy dolly forces Daddy dolly into the car despite his protests of "Help! Help!".
She then makes him drive her to the garden centre!

One of my favourite blogs

Just wanted to share some great posts from Claire at Border Stories.

She has a lovely blog and writes so beautifully about her family life, children and home education.

Two of my favourite posts are this one (Ordinary Days) and this one (unschooling thoughts).

Thank you for sharing Claire.

The Freeds

Yesterday we went to see our friends Ruth and Tim with their girls Alice and Sophie. Sophie is only two weeks old. It was lovely to see them and catch up and hear all about getting used to life as a family of four.
We had such anice time we forgot to take many photos but here are a few I managed to snap.

Ruth and Sophie.

Russ having a hold.

We had a really lovely day. It was great to see you guys. xx

This is Phoebe's picture of a parrot

and a snowman.

Choosing seeds at the garden centre.

Digging with Daddy to get in the raspberry canes.

Spring is coming.

Phoebe admiring the snowdrops in next door's garden.

Phoebe's photo of them.

She kept wandering back by herself to have another look.

The raspberry canes in (fingers crossed).

A finished hat for baby Sophie.

Baking Banana Muffins

Happy Birthday Daddy!

A few valentines decorations for Daddy's birthday.

Auntie Lynsey and Uncle Andy came to stay. We went for a walk around Crown Lakes.

There were icy puddles!

The lakes were frozen.

Daddy is a big kid!

We fed the ducks.

Walking with Daddy.

Random Pictures from February

Phoebe's last snowman. How cute is he?

Phoebe playing with her new playmat. I finally got round to making it. Yay!

Sleeping beauty.

Another baby hat. :)

Playing with homemade 'snowdough'.

Phoebe's indoor 'mowman'.

Our cut out shapes and candle holders.

Playing with tree blocks. Look what Phoebe made on her own.

Barry and Sarah's Visit

Decided to do a quick few posts of recent pictures. Haven't got time for much writing as i'm trying to knit a hat for baby Sophie super fast... and catch up on other people's blogs... and eat ice cream. So i'm just going to leave you with a photo fest of what we have been up to recently.

These are from a few weekends ago when Barry and Sarah came to visit.
Sorry about the odd order, blogger seems to load things in reverse now.

It was great to see you guys! xx

Funny Phoebe Moments

A few of the funny and lovely things Phoebe has said recently:

"I keep it! I keep it!" - holding one of her favourite toys.

"Pretty top wearing Mummy!" - what a lovely compliment!

"Wrong page Daddy!" - when Daddy tried to start reading Jolly Snow from page 2 by accident... again!

"Call Grampy... no, hospital... doctors, better now" - Phoebe remembered what i had told her about why we couldn't call Grampy to say hello.

"Nanny on holiday, 'andad, aeroplane.... purple aeroplane."

"I coming too now"

"Baby, mummy's tummy. Bigger, bigger. Pop. On floor!" - I swear this is not what we told her!

"Lynsey Andy coming 'moro. Lynsey play fairies... and Andy too!"

"Mummy taste strawberries"

Suddenly, in bed whilst trying to sleep "CHOOOOOO!" "What Phoebe?" "Being train!"

"Well done Daddy!" - when Daddy manages to park the car or do his own zip up!

Tiny Movements

I'm still not around a lot online at the moment as i'm still feeling very tired and going to sleep when Phoebe does, so i don't get a lot of time to myself. The sickness has been gradually improving, though not totally - i've still been sick this week. Its quite hard running round after a toddler who does not believe she needs sleep while feeling so tired yourself, and now we have colds too.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the news that I have felt the baby move for the first time this week! I am 15 weeks now and felt a few movements and then one big one... i think the baby must have done a somersault! Exciting!

Also we had our booking in appointment and blood tests at the hospital and that all went well, despite it taking ages. Phoebe was a star in the waiting room. The consultant who i had to see briefly was very pro home birth and asked some questions about Phoebe's birth and how we would do it this time whilst smiling broadly and nodding at his student. It was really nice to see someone in his position who did not feel that births needed to be in hospital.

Hoping to post some pictures soon.

Famous Sophie

Baby Sophie is becoming quite the celebrity. The Freeds were on Anglia News last night!

If the link doesn't work you can go to the Anglia News website and you will see the video on a list there as 'snowed in mum forced to have homebirth'.

Very strange watching our friends on tv!

Just wanted to say 'Congratulations' to friends who have recently had babies.

Welcome to the world Daniel, Sophie and Michael!

Sophie in particular had quite a dramatic entrance into the world and made the front page of local papers!

Click here to read the story.

Interestingly what it doesn't mention is they were planing a homebirth. The labour went so quickly they didn't even have time to inflate the pool. So glad it all turned out well for you guys!

Hope you are all enjoying your babymoons!

Lots of snow!

We woke up to this...

got snuggled up warm to venture outside

and stepped out.

Look at those buds peeping through the snow.

The scene from half way down the garden.

Making a giant snowman...

REALLY giant!

We walked to the bottom of the garden to see the snow covered trees and have a quick swing... yes, Phoebe went on the swing, even in the snow!

Here's the view back to the house.

It got a bit cold and we had to come in before the snowman was finished but daddy popped out on his own to make our 'mowman' complete!

"Hello Mowman!"
